Archdiocesan Virtual Choir Opportunity

Updated: Jun 14, 2020

Hello Friends!

Thank you! We are so excited and grateful for your “yes” to this new adventure! (Or to agreeing to consider it!) This virtual choir will be a part of a greater presentation that will “air” online at 7:00 on Sunday, June 7th. (the link will be sent out) This will be a virtual “diocesan family gathering” which aims to bring together the corners of the Archdiocese to celebrate good news, learn together, laugh together, sing together and pray together. We have named this gathering “The Diocese Tonight”. So let’s get into the details of YOUR part in this…..looking for 100 members in this choir...join them! 1. Please understand this as an opportunity to help lead others in prayer - as opposed to a “performance”. We ask you to prepare as well as you can and then before recording yourself playing/singing, please pray this prayer that we may be unified in our ministry to others:

Oh Lord, please bless this music that it might glorify your name. May the talent that you have bestowed upon me be used only to serve you. Let this music be a witness to your majesty and love, and remind us that you are always watching, and listening, from your throne above. May your presence and beauty be found in every note, and may the words that are sung reach the hearts of your people so they will draw closer to you. May your Spirit guide us through every measure so that we might be the instruments of your peace, and proclaim your glory with glad voices. Amen

2. NEW Date -There is a short turnaround time on this project. We need your singing or playing contribution sent to us as soon as possible, but for certain by no later than June, 5.

3. We want this to sound and look as good as it can! To that end, here are some recommendations for you while recording your piece of the song:

  • You can download a copy of the song by clicking the link below. The vocal track that is currently in the song will be removed come the final version, we’ve simply included it for those who would prefer to have a melody to follow along with. https://www.dropbox.com/s/beer7wcornokey6/What%20A%20Beautiful%20Name%20Agnus%20Dei%20-%20Click%20Track.mp3?dl=0

  • Please record while listening to this song on earphones, so that everyone will be singing & playing in the same key and at the same tempo!

  • NEW - Please use a portrait orientation when filming it (not a landscape orientation)

  • We are looking for most folks to sing the melody. However if harmonies are your strength and you would like to sing harmony instead, feel free.

  • Attached is a chord sheet with the lyrics, to help you follow along with the song.

  • Remember to film yourself performing the song as well as recording the audio. (We want to see you AND hear you!)

As you are recording, please remember a few things:

  • Find a quiet place to record, with as little reverb/echo as possible. It will make editing the final project a lot easier if there’s no background noise (or as little as possible!) in your recording.

  • Please use headphones or earbuds when recording! While we did provide the track to help you record, we don’t want to be able to hear it in the footage you send us. All we want to hear is you!

  • We recognize that some people may be self-conscious about sending in a recording where all you hear is your own voice, but that is exactly what we want. For those of you who are nervous, we have to ask you to please trust us: we will make you sound as amazing as we can, but we need clean audio (as in, nothing but your voice and/or instrument) in order to do so!

  • NEW - You can record on your cell phone in portrait view (not landscape), but if you have a camera and/or an actual microphone that you can use to record yourself, that would be preferable! If you have any questions about what will or won’t work, or need help figuring out how to do the recording, just let us know!

  • NEW - We have had some requests for actual sheet music. Sadly, we do not have an arrangement for the song exactly as recorded, but we do have piano/vocal music for the two songs separately. We have attached it. Perhaps some of you will find that helpful as you prepare!

  • If you need technical in filming it or uploading it to a shareable format, please contact us and we will do our best to help. Please direct any how-to or technical questions directly to Braden Kuntz at bkuntz@archregina.sk.ca

As was stated earlier in this email, this is meant to be our prayer! Remember that! Assume whatever posture you would normally use when praying with music. Pray this song as you record - we are grateful! In His service and yours, Michelle Braden and Braden Kuntz
