Bible Text: “Hear then the parable of the sower” Matthew 13. 18-23

Jesus had explained in details the meaning of the parable of the sower. At the outset, the sower is God, the seed is the word of God and the different types of soils are the dispositions of human hearts in welcoming the word of God in our life. As for what was sown on rocky ground are the ones who hear the word of God and received it emotionally but afraid to practice it in the midst of persecution. As for what were sown among thorns are those who hear the word of God but he was stifle by the worldly allurements and his life was totally in vain. But as for what was sown on good soil are the ones who listen to the word of God, understand it and put them into practice and eventually his life yielded fruits for the kingdom of God.

Healing begins from accepting our state of spirituality. On one hand, Jesus apparently did not condemn those whose life did not yield fruits for the kingdom of God and on the other hand, He did not praise or put into the pedestal those who had yielded fruits for the kingdom of God. The parable serves as guiding light for each one of us. Its purpose is to see our life from the perspective of the parable. He wants us to accept what kind of soil we are so that by accepting our situation we will know what to do and what we need to make our relationship better with God. God is the healer and we are the sick. We will never come to Jesus to beg for healing unless we make up our minds. Jesus in the previous parables will always challenge His listeners; let those who have ears listen!

Our goodness should not make us proud but humble and let our life shine before them. Many people are struggling in their lives searching for the meaning in life. Real good people inspire others who are trying to find their life. Guide and help them find the way that will lead them back to God.
