Bible Text: “As you go proclaim the good news, take no gold or silver...for the labourers deserve their food. If anyone will not welcome you, shake off the dust from your feet”. Matthew 10. 7-15

The gospel reminds me about the rap music entitled “Don’t worry, be happy”. Here's a little song I wrote. You might want to sing it note for note. Don't worry, be happy. In every life we have some trouble. But when you worry you make it double. Don't worry, be happy. Don't worry, be happy now.

Jesus’ instructions to his apostles before sending them for the mission can be entitled “don’t worry, be happy! First, Jesus told them not worry about personal provisions. Take no gold or silver; no two tunic or sandals for labourers deserve their food”. Remember that God is the source of all goodness. Once He told us about the lilies in the fields, they neither work nor spin but look at how the Father feeds them. You are more important than all lilies in the field. Secondly, Jesus reminded them not to worry about rejection. He said, if anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave the house or town. Whenever you are rejected, it is not you but Jesus is the one they are rejecting.

Not to worry means not to be destructed from the mission that Jesus had entrusted to them. These two worries can definitely impede personal commitment to what was mandated by Jesus. Jesus wanted wholehearted and total dedication to the proclamation of the good news.

Not to worry means to be happy. The very things that will give us satisfaction and fulfilment in this world are not personal securities and comforts in this world but real accomplishment is doing the will of God.
