Bible Text: “Give to the Emperor the things that are the emperor’s

and to God the things that are God’s”. Mark 12. 13- 17

Jesus is being trapped by his detractors so they can find fault against Him to charge Him in the court by asking Him a difficult question ‘is it lawful to pay taxes to the Emperor or not? It seems to them that there is no connection at all between religiosity and citizenry. For Jesus they are inseparable. To be a good Christian has an essential connection to being a good citizen. This time of pandemic, there are set of rules imposed by the government that we have to follow such as social distancing, sanitizing and disinfecting. The very purpose of these rules is to ensure that safety of each one in the community. Observing these rules manifests our being good Christians and being law abiding citizens. Our being good Christians should be shown by upholding what the government is telling us to do. The rules that we have to follow should not only be considered as the law of the land but also law of God. If we violate these set of rules, it does not mean that we will only be accountable to the government but we will as well be accountable to God.

Let us ask the Lord to give us strong faith that we will recognize God in the things that we doing in these world.
